CREPE PAPER USES

USES FOR CREPE PAPER

What can you use crepe paper for? There are many things you can make with crepe paper such as paper flowers, dolls, costumes, piñatas, and many more items to decorate with etc.

You can find all types of books, e-books, articles, and instructions for many of these things on the Internet or some of them even in bookstores.

Crepe paper is easier to work with than other types of paper since it is stretchable and this makes it easy to form into the shapes that you might need for your projects.

When your crepe paper may get wet or when you are using markers or other coloring materials and they have a tendency to run you may want to use a bleed resistant crepe paper.

Some crepe paper is fade resistant that usually means that over a time period that the colors will stay as bright colored as when they were made and will not fade as easy as the other type of crepe paper. The sun also will not fade them as easily.

A lot of the crepe paper today are flame resistant that means if they are too close to a flame they will not catch on fire as quick as if they were not flame resistant and if they do come in contact with a fire it may even go out on its own. Don’t put it to the test it may be a little safer but do not take it for granted that it won’t burn.

The crepe papers we like the best are the ones that are bleed, fade, and flame resistant. Don’t get me wrong we do use the other types too; we just like the other ones the best.

Sometimes we need the crepe paper that does bleed to make some of our paper flower designs to look like the real thing so we use the crepe paper that does bleed. You may need for some of your decorations that you make to bleed so you will find out the same thing.

Have a fun time using crepe paper for whatever project that you may want to do, but remember crepe paper makes beautiful paper flowers.

Two Family Halloween Craft Projects

If you’re too busy to spend a lot of time on Halloween craft projects with your family but you’d like to do some kind of activity together, not to worry. The Internet is a great source of free Halloween images that can be used to create quick and easy crafts. As an example, crafts made from vintage Halloween cards found on the Web are simple to make, because vintage images are both versatile and very effective at conveying a Halloween feel. There’s something for everyone, because vintage Halloween cards run the gamut from sweet to scary. Vintage images can also be downloaded and used without fear of copyright infringement. That’s a terrific bonus, because you don’t have to worry about using other people’s art illegally.

Just a simple online search using the search term “vintage Halloween” will net you a large number of no-cost images from which many fun crafts projects can be made. And if you’re not a fan of vintage, new Halloween clip art can also be used to produce beautiful projects.

Here are some examples of simple Halloween projects virtually anyone can make by using free electronic images:

Handmade Halloween Cards
When you’ve downloaded the Halloween image you’d like to use, paste it into a Word, PowerPoint or OneNote document. You can size the card using the software’s settings. Place the image on one half of the card, so it can be folded in half after it’s printed. Print the card on sturdy stock, fold it and use a little glitter glue to make it sparkle. You might also want to make your own envelopes or just buy two-for-a-dollar card and envelope sets at the dollar store and then recycle the cards.

Halloween Door Wreath
Making a Halloween wreath is easy. Here are the supplies you’ll need to have on-hand:

  • 1 plain Styrofoam wreath ring (your choice as far as size)
  • Scissors
  • Short straight pins
  • Ribbon or a metal or plastic door-hanger
  • Free vintage Halloween embellishments or vintage Halloween cards of your choice (between two and four inches long), printed and cut along the outlines
  • This paper (optional)

Download the art you want to use to your hard drive. Then, print enough clip art images to fit around the wreath and cut them out with scissors or a craft knife. You can also vary the look by using Halloween scrapbooking paper cut into bat or leaf shapes. Once you’ve cut all the components, position them in a balanced way around the Styrofoam wreath and affix them with the straight pins. Be prepared to adjust the positioning of the pieces a bit to get everything to look balanced. The pins should make it easy to reposition everything. (Just make sure to watch the little ones around the straight pins!) When your wreath is done, use a ribbon or door hanger to hang it.

I hope you enjoy making these simple and fun Halloween crafts and that you have a fun holiday!
