Farewell Sentimental Sayings: The Power of a Promise

“We only part to meet again.” – John Gay

Isn’t it ironic that “goodbye quotes” always refer to seeing each other again? How many times have we said goodbye to someone, only to promise to see each other again. Here are some examples of sentimental farewells…

“Don’t be dismayed at goodbyes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetime, is certain for those who are friends.” – Richard Bach

This concept is the most powerful when one is saying goodbye to a loved one who died. Whole sections of religious doctrine have been written up because of this. I am refering to the belief of the afterlife.

“Man’s feelings are always purest and most glowing in the hour of meeting and of farewell.” -Jean Paul Richter

The promise that humans can see people they love when they die if they follow a set doctrine of beliefs is one of the pillars of a faith that isn’t talked about much. Religions either hang on to this or people simply want their set of beliefs to include this. With that said, I admit that going back to my grandmother’s Faith is mostly because I want to see her again.

Here’s my farewell with a promise saying. It’s more of a poem actually. You can use this to place in cards and other things to make your loved ones feel so special.

I will never forget how I feel at this moment.
My weakness stems from my remembrance
of memories past and events shared.
You may go now and I will remain
but because this isn’t the end,
take with you my embrace and warmth.
