The Most Sentimental and Fun Halloween Ever (Without Spending a Dime)

Yes, you can celebrate Halloween with your family even when there is little or no cash in your pocket. Most people think Halloween is a time to spend, but frugal families know that this isn’t true. You can all have a creepy and fun Halloween night as a family just by being creative and giving your all to celebrate the Trick and Treat season.

Nature Walk.

Take a walk with your family together through a hiking trail or park. Your objective is to collect items you can use as centerpieces for Halloween dinner. As you walk, collect leaves, rocks, pinecones and other bits of nature to bring home and display in a large glass bowl. You can also fashion crafts from these ordinary materials to decorate your front porch.

Have A Monster Mash Dance Party.

There are many Halloween-themed CDs on hand during this time of the year. Have an all-family Halloween Shinding Party and dance to all the favourite Halloween tunes. Your kids will gape at you dance and believe they have deranged parents, but perhaps without owning up to it, they’ll have loads of fun.

One popular dance game during Halloween is “Freeze Dancing” and here’s how it’s done.

Select a lively Halloween CD and let the kids dance for a while before stopping the music. Each child has to “freeze” when the music stops. You can appoint two or three guides or parents to oversee the game and remove kids who move even a little while the music is not playing. The last child standing is pronounced the winner.

Prepare Your Halloween Snacks Together

You can turn any snack (cookies, rice pudding and ice cream) into a creepy, crawly Halloween treat just by using green or orange food coloring and serving with candy corns.

You can also create your very own Pumpkin Cake!
